ODOR
Odors as an industrial and social problemMalodors in the industry can be a serious problem, as they can affect the health of workers, the well-being of nearby communities, and the public image of the company. In addition, in some cases, bad odors can be a sign of toxic emissions that can have negative effects on the environment and air quality.
There are multiple factors that can cause bad odors in the industry, such as the release of gases from machinery or production processes, the use of chemicals, the fermentation and decomposition of organic waste, inadequate wastewater disposal, and the lack of proper environmental management practices.
Bad odors can affect industry in several ways:
Strong and persistent odors can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness, and other symptoms that can affect workers’ ability to perform their tasks effectively.
Exposure to toxic odors can have long-term effects on workers’ health, resulting in chronic respiratory diseases, skin problems, and other disorders.
Can also affect the quality of life of communities near industrial plants, farms, or water treatment plants and can be particularly bothersome in residential areas.
Masking or neutralizing: It’s not all about perfuming
The industry uses different technological solutions to treat bad odors, however, these alternatives do not always solve the real problem. One of the main disadvantages of most products on the market is the environmental impact generated, as some chemicals used in odor treatment can be toxic and contribute to air, soil, and water pollution.
Some products, such as odor maskers, do not eliminate the root problem, they only temporarily mask it. This means that the bad odor can reappear once the fragrance effect fades away. Biocides, on the other hand, can generate resistance in the environment, being toxic to aquatic life, causing soil pollution, or affecting other organisms in the ecosystem, which can have consequences for biodiversity.
It is also important to consider the health risks of workers who handle these chemical products, and the proper management of waste and chemical by-products generated. Finally, some products may have limited effectiveness over time, generating ongoing costs and requiring frequent monitoring and maintenance. Therefore, it is essential to consider the details of the technologies and carefully evaluate the solutions used for the treatment of bad odors in the industry.
AdTech’s sustainable solution for odor treatment
The active ingredient in AdTech technology is used as a disinfectant and oxidizing agent in a variety of applications, including odor elimination. The active ingredient in AdTech technology reacts with organic compounds present in bad odors, oxidizing them and resulting in their degradation or transformation into non-volatile and odorless compounds, thus eliminating the bad odor. As a disinfectant, it is capable of eliminating odor-causing microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi, which were previously mentioned as part of the problem. By disinfecting the surfaces or environment where the microorganisms are present, the source of the odor is eliminated and its reappearance is prevented.
Furthermore, AdTech technology is effective in treating bad odors generated by the degradation of organic matter in biological reactors, such as odors from industrial processes. Ammonia (NH3) and amines (R-NH2) are the main components and causes of the bad odor generated in the organic matter degradation process. It has been demonstrated that the active ingredient in AdTech reacts with NH3 and R-NH2, being able to eliminate these compounds from the air, neutralizing and leaving the environment odor-free.
Advantages of using AdTech technology to eliminate bad odors
The hypochlorous acid used in our technology is accompanied by environmentally friendly stabilizers and chemical protectors, making it an effective technology for controlling odors in various applications. Firstly, it is a highly effective active ingredient for neutralizing odors of organic origin, such as those from human or animal waste, urine, garbage, among others. Additionally, its rapid decomposition in the presence of strong acids, alkalis, oxidizing agents, organic materials and soil, and direct light, makes it ideal for use outdoors and indoors without worrying about possible residues.
In terms of the environment, significant adverse impacts are not expected as a result of the use and elimination of diluted hypochlorous acid. This allows us to not require additional mitigation measures. In summary, hypochlorous acid is an effective and safe technology for controlling odors in a variety of applications without negative environmental effects.
Success cases
Success in eliminating the turpentine odor AdTech developed a technology as an effective solution for eliminating the turpentine odor, a byproduct of cellulose producing companies that presents a high odor risk. The effectiveness of this case was tested through a perception study that achieved 95% effectiveness. Our technology can be applied using a sprayer, nebulizer, or pulverizer on the affected area for efficient odor elimination.
